School Meal Information

SCHOOL MEALS.
 
From September 2017 the price of a school meal is increasing to £2.18 per day - £10.90 per week.

 

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to a Universal Free School Meal.


Dinner money is payable on a Monday each week.  We use green envelopes to collect your child's dinner money in.  Complete the envelope with your child's name, Class and the amount of money enclosed in the envelope and hand in to the office.   The office can provide you with a supply of green envelopes to use if your child has a school meal.

 

We would like to encourage more parents to pay for their child’s dinner money either by cheque or online through the Tameside Website.   These methods are a secure way of paying dinner money.

 

If you want to make a payment by cheque, please make the cheque payable to

 “Greenfield Primary School -TMBC” – we still need a Green envelope.

 

If you would like to make payments online, then please go to www.tameside.gov.uk – click on the right hand side where it says “Schools and Learning” and then click in the box that says “School Meals”.  You can find on this page the link to pay for meals online.  School receives an email confirmation that you have paid for a certain number of meals for your child and we do not need a green dinner money envelope.

 
We allow changes to children's lunchtime arrangements after every half term, but please let the office staff know about any changes before the holidays.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS.

 

There are 4 ways of applying for Free School Meals:

 

1.   Complete the e-claim for Housing and Council Tax Support which includes the option to apply for Free              School Meals. 

 

2.  Complete the on-line application form which can be found on the following link

3.   Telephone the council’s call centre on 0161 342 8355 and ask for the free school meals benefit section.

 

4.     Alternatively, in person at one of the council’s Customer Services Offices:

        Ashton Customer Services, Clarence Arcade, Stamford Street (opposite Barclays Bank), Ashton under         Lyne, OL6 7PT (drop in services) or try the Hyde Customer Services (limited drop in services) , based           in the Library at the Town Hall, Market Street SK14 1AL

 

According to the information on the Tameside Council website, all claims will be processed by the Benefits Section at Tameside Council with the target date of 3 days.
